Rear Window *1954
Alfred Hitchcock

This movie used a very different way to shoot.
The eye of viewers' just like the eye of L. B. Jefferies.
We can see the everyday life of others. The feeling satisfied our desire of peep.
Alfred Hitchcock was good at playing viewers' feeling when they watched the movies.
He liked to give viewers' something they wouldn't expect.
This why people loves his work.
And so do I.
Jules and Jim *1962
François Truffau

This movie was talked about the romance of triangle.
We could see that François Truffau used very simple way to describe the feeling of acters.
I like the personality of Catherine which was very impetuous and capricious.
The interaction of these three characters were very interesting.
This was also the romance reflection of François Truffau himself.
I love the old french style scenes which could let us know the atmosphere in that age.
The 400 Blows *1959
Francois Truffaut

I still remembered the first time when I watched this movie.
The color and atmosphere were so beautiful.
It had a feeling that everything was so close to you.
Just like any normal street in Paris.
The music was also fascinated.
Francois Truffant use a theory called La Politique des Auteurs.
It means that the author use the simple and plain way to shoot the movie.
Go straight to people's daily life. Instead of stay in a film studio, still use the normal way.
I considered Truffant as a great author. His movies were really great.
Metropolis *1926
Fritz Lang

This is the movie that I expect for a long time.
I have a great curiosity. It was an old movie which shoot in 1927.
I was so impressed by the story. And the details which made the story more fascinated.
Fritz Lang used the technique with the expressionism. He really showed the world what he want to say. This movie had became the most famous science fiction movie.
The story shows that Fritz Lang had noticed the serious problem about "modernization."
We will have the big crash between humanity and technology.
Take his theory to nowadays, and it actually match the facts well.
This movie is admirable. Everyone should watch it!
La Béte Humaine *1938
Jean Renoir

Jean Renoir adapted this story which was written by Zola. There was a train engineer named Jacques. He believed that he was sick because the alcohol abuse of his father and grandfather. He thought that his blood also had the same problem just liked them. During his vocation, he became a witness by chance. His manager Roubaud and his wife Séverine tried to kill Séverine's lover. Jacques didn't tell to the police what he had saw. Skittish Séverine was getting tired of her boring husband, then she was fell in love with Jacques. And Jacques loved her, too. Séverine persuaded Jacques to kill Roubaud, so they could be together. In this conflicting situation, Jacques was exploded! He killed Séverine. And he jumped off a speeding train to his death.

I think this film is talking about the dark side of humanity. Auteur shot this film by a realistically way. We can see the routine of the train engineers in 1938. The dramatic plots took us back into that ages easily. Although "La Béte Humaine" was published in 1938, I think the drama is quit well compare with today's films.
